Restaurant Review: Fukumoto (Austin, TX)

For my last night in Austin, post-conference, I went out to Fukumoto (YelpWebsite) with 3 of my colleagues. We ordered some more items than pictured here, but I was too busy eating to take pictures.

Seasonal veg (okra, cucumber, tomatoes)

Agedashi tofu

Chicken gizzards

Beef tongue, chicken thigh and scallion

Karage

Pork belly, chicken wing

Bacon wrapped asparagus

Shishito peppers

Tomato salad

Bottom Line: There were some hits (beef tongue, karage), and some misses (pork belly, shishito peppers, tomato salad), but the vibe and service was great. Good for groups and sharing, but coming from the NY-metro area, Fukumoto failed to impress. I think for the Austin area, this izakaya is probably a welcomed addition to their growing food scene!
